Madrid Secrets: Best Parks and Gardens

Summer is a great time in Madrid. The days are long, the street is full of people and terraces to be outdoors.
But without doubt, summer is the perfect time to enjoy the many parks when the temperatures are higher during the day. The offer is huge: parks in downtown or the suburbs, large and small parks, parks for sports or to go for "picnic" with family and friends.
Here's a selection of the best known parks. In our next post will discover lesser-known parks, which often are the most beautiful.

Live Madrid’s parks and gardens. They come in all shapes and forms: historical, modern, secluded, immense, some that are good for picnics, some that are good for sports…

SECRET GARDENS
Peaceful and serene, hidden within the four walls of a cloister, these gardens are the city's best kept secret. Rarely visited by locals, their clandestine doors can be found on the streets of the areas of La Latina, Huertas and Lavapiés in old convents, stately palaces and hospitals that have witnessed the passing of the centuries.
