Navidad en Madrid: Mercadillos Callejeros




Se acerca la Navidad y los distritos de Madrid se llenan de mercadillos de Navidad donde poder hacer algunas de las compras navideñas con regalos algo más originales de lo normal.

Las calles de Madrid durante la época de Navidad adquieren un gran ambiente, debido a la iluminación navideña ,  y al ambiente que dan los  mercadillos y las ferias de Navidad .

Tradicionalmente, desde hace muchos años las principales plazas del centro de la ciudad se ocupan con mercadillos donde puedes encontrar productos navideños, pero también ferias de artesanía y de regalos, que forman parte sustancial del programa de Navidad 2012 en Madrid .

Y tampoco faltan atracciones orientadas al disfrute de las familias, como ferias, pistas de hielo o espectáculos infantiles como el tradicional Cortylandia .

A continuación tienes la información, así como fechas y horarios de los principales mercadillos y ferias de Navidad 2012-2013 que puedes visitar en Madrid en estas fechas festivas.

Mercadillo de la plaza Mayor y plaza de Santa Cruz

El más tradicional de los mercadillos navideños de Madrid está abierto hasta el 31 de diciembre, en horarios de lunes a jueves, de 10 a 22 horas, y de viernes a domingo, hasta las 23 horas.
En este mercadillo que ocupa la Plaza Mayor y sus alrededores encuentras más de cien casetas decoradas con estilo austriaco, y asímismo, encuentras el ya tradicional tiovivo clásico para disfrute de los chavales.

Junto a la plaza Mayor, tienes en estas pequeñas plazas una extensión de su tradicional mercadillo, con los mismos horarios.

En la cercana plaza de Benavente tienes el ya tradicional mercadillo de artesanía y regalos conocido como Feria de Navidad. Con más de 20 casetas con una decoración que emula un pueblo medieval.
Esta feria de Navidad puedes visitarla hasta el 6 de enero, todos los días de 10 a 22 horas.

Pista de patinaje en la plaza de Callao

En la céntrica plaza de Callao encuentras una pista de patinaje sobre hielo y la gran caseta para venta de adornos navideños que instala El Corte Inglés. De la decoración destaca el tradicional árbol de Navidad de 18 metros de altura.

En esta plaza cercana a la plaza de Callao, hasta el 6 de enero tienes una pista de patinaje sobre hielo y una de esquí.
Los horarios de apertura son todos los días, de 10 a 22 horas.

Feria de Artesanía en la plaza del Carmen

También hasta el 6 de enero, en la plaza del Carmen encuentras una feria de Navidad con más de 30 casetas. Abre todos los días de 10 a 22 horas.

Feria de Navidad en la plaza de Santo Domingo

En esta plaza tienes una feria de artesanía hasta el 6 de enero, todos los días de 10 a 22 horas.

Feria de Artesanía en la Plaza de España
Esta feria de artesanía se inaugura el 15 de diciembre, y está abierta al público hasta el 5 de enero, de 11 a 21 horas. Cierra los días 25 de diciembre y 1 de enero, y los días 24 y 31 de diciembre cierra a las 15 horas.

Hasta el 13 de enero puedes visitar la feria de artesanía, que abre de 10 a 14,30 horas y de 17 a 22,30 horas.

What´s on in Madrid- Exhibitions December 2012

December is a good month to visit exhibitions in Madrid, so we safeguard us from the cold.

  • Artaud's Spectrums: Language and Art in the 1950s (18 September to 17 December @ the Reina Sofía Museum): French artist and theorist of the Theatre of Cruelty, Antonin Artaud, is the star of this exhibition which revolves around his influence on poetry and performing arts in the years following his death.
  • Imogen Cunningham (18 September to 20 January 2013 @ Mapfre Foundation, Azca exhibition hall): a show displaying 70 years of modernist photography.
  • Portraits. Masterpieces. (25 September to 6 January 2013 @ Mapfre Foundation, Recoletos exhibition hall): 80 portraits by leading artists from the collection at Centre Pompidou / Musée National D'Art Moderne.
  • The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk (6 October to 6 January @ the Mapfre Foundation): a retrospective show of the French fashion designer's work, featuring 140 haute couture dresses along with ready-to-wear items from the 1970s onwards.
  • Gauguin and the Voyage to the Exotic (9 October to 13 January, 2013 @ the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum): works by Gauguin, Kandinsky, Matisse, Klee and Macke narrate the reconquest of Primitivism through Exoticism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
  • Maria Blanchard (from 16 October to 25 February 2013 @ the Reina Sofía Museum): an exhibition devoted to the avant-garde and Cubist painter from Spain who rose to fame in 1920s Paris.
  • The Art of Cartier (23 October to 15 February 2013 @ the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum): over 300 pieces of jewellery from the luxury jeweller's historical collection, including some belonging to Grace Kelly, Elisabeth Taylor and Coco Chanel, will be displayed in the Madrid museum.
  • The Young Van Dyck (20 November to 3 March 2013 @ the Prado Museum): exhibition focusing on works painted by Van Dyck before he left for London in 1620, a period when the young Flemish artist worked under Rubens.
  • The House of Alba Legacy. Patronage at the Service of Art (30 November to 31 March, 2013 @ CentroCentro): The largest exhibition of works from the private collection of the House of Alba Foundation will comprise over 150 items, including paintings by Goya, Titian and Rubens, and a first edition of Don Quijote.

Madrid Events: Culinary Trade Fair: Madrid Fusion 2012

 

If you are one of the many people who come to Madrid to enjoy its cuisine, you're in luck, because 24 to January 26, 2012 is celebrated .

gastrofestivalThis annual date with the world's best food gurus celebrates talent and creativity in the kitchen. Top Spanish chefs will be joined by culinary gurus from all over the world.

This year's Madrid Fusion includes several presentations and

live sessions where we will be able to watch some of the most prestigious chefs on the planet in action. The themes range from the new generation of talented young chefs to trends and techniques and low-cost management. There will be a special focus on products from this country (the land, our pantry) and the future of Spanish cuisine (the gates to the future).

 

Madrid Fusion is the starting point for taste of what Madrid has to offer regarding food culture.

MADRID'S TRADE FAIR 2012 CALENDAR

 

Madrid is a favourite destination when it comes to business and conference tourism. The ICAA (International Congress and Convention Association) places our city among the top 10 world destinations chosen to carry out business meetings, fairs and conventions.   • Pitbull (27 January. Palacio de Vistalegre): the rapper and king of the dance floors will be appearing at Palacio de Vistalegre, performing a selection of his recent hits.
  • Jorge Drexler (3 February. Teatro Arteria Coliseum): the Uruguayan singer-songwriter, winner of the 2005 Oscar for Best Song, continues his tour of Spain to present Amar la trama.
  • Russian Red (4 February. Teatro Arteria Coliseum): Lourdes Hernández returns to the stage to showcase the songs of Fuerteventura, her latest album.
  • Gustavo Dudamel (31 March at the National Auditorium): the Venezuelan conductor will be leading the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra through various works by Strauss and Haydn.
  • Lang Lang (17 April at the National Auditorium): the renowned Chinese pianist will be performing with the Andrés Segovia Chamber Orchestra in a concert of music by Beethoven.
  • Luis Miguel (11 May. Sports Palace): the Mexican singer's tour celebrates 30 years in show business with performances of his greatest hits.
  • Judas Priest (15 May. Palacio de Vistalegre): a must for fans of the historic heavy metal band, who will be saying farewell to us in their Epitaph Tour 2011.
  • Coldplay (20 May. Vicente Calderón Stadium): After finishing their world tour to present their new album, the English band will return to Madrid for just one concert in Spain.
  • Bruce Springsteen (17 June. Santiago Bernabéu Stadium): as part of his latest world tour, The Boss will visit Madrid together with the E Street Band and offer what promises to be one of the best concerts of the year.
  • Rock in Rio (29 & 30 June, 5-7 July. Ciudad del Rock): Madrid will be hosting the third edition of the renowned festival which, this year, will be headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus and Deadmau5.
  • Serrat and Sabina (19 September at the Sports Palace): the two great Spanish singers and songwriters present their new duo album La orquesta del Titanic in Madrid.

JANUARY-MARCH 2012
  • Eugène Delacroix (till 15 January at the CaixaForum Madrid): the exhibition is devoted to the work of French painter Delacroix, one of the greatest exponents of Romanticism.
  • Architectural Paintings (till 22 January at the Caja Madrid Foundation & Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum): works depicting architectural imagery completed between the 14th and 18th centuries comprise this exhibition which shows how what started off as a stage for other themes became a genre it its own right.
  • alighiero boetti. game plan (till 5 February at the Reina Sofía Museum): a retrospective on the Italian conceptual artist, a member of the arte povera movement.
  • Marc Chagall (14 February to 20 May at the Caja Madrid Foundation and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum): a retrospective of the Russian artist, from his early work to his exile in the United States.
  • The Hermitage at the Prado (till 25 March at the Prado Museum): during the Spain-Russia Dual Year, the Madrid museum and the Hermitage have agreed to exchange collections. As a result, the Prado will be exhibiting over 170 works of art on loan from the renowned St. Petersburg museum which include paintings, drawings, sculptures, archaeological findings and decorative arts pieces that range from the year 5 B.C. to the 20thcentury.
  • Muntadas. Entre/Between (till 26 March at the Reina Sofía Museum): a monographic on Antoni Muntadas, 2005 Plastic Arts National Prize winner and promoter of audiovisual technologies in Spanish art.
APRIL- SEPTEMBER 2012
  • The Art of Piranesi (30 April to 9 September at CaixaForum Madrid): this exhibition tracing the Venetian artist's work brings together a considerable selection of his engravings and 3D videos of his famous etchings of 'imaginary prisons'.
  • Da Vinci, the Genius (till 2 May at the Canal Art Centre): The artist's world is reflected in this exhibition, which recreates his working spaces and displays some of the machinery invented by the Renaissance genius.
  • PHotoEspaña (30 May to 22 July at different venues): a year on, the extensive photographic festival will be held at scores of exhibiton halls throughout the city, as well as in Lisbon, the second host city of the festival. Commissioned once more by Gerardo Mosquera, the event will feature a nearly two-month-long programme. This year's thematic section deals with the global circulation of art, under the heading From Here. Context and Internationalisation.
  • NASA. An Adventure in Space (till 15 June at the Casa de Campo Trade Fair Park): large-scale exhibition on the most important space missions in history.
Edward Hopper, Hotel Room, 1931, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Madrid

  • Edward Hopper (12 June to 16 September at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum): a two-part exhibition dedicated exclusively to the American artist covers his formative years and his mature period, beginning in 1925.
  • The Last Raphael (12 June to 16 September at the Prado Museum): a show on the final creative period of this great Renaissance artist, one of the most influential in art history.
  • Murillo and Justino de Neve (26 June to 30 September at the Prado Museum): the Prado Museum and the Focus-Abengoa Foundation have joined forces to present this exhibition of the later work of the Baroque painter Bartolomé Murillo, painted as a result of his friendship with Justino de Neve, canon of Seville cathedral.
SEPTEMBER-DECEMBER 2012
